Once upon a time there was a simple man: Dersu didn’t have to suffer. Arseniev is most famous for authoring many books about his explorations, including some 60 works on the geography, wildlife and ethnography of the regions he traveled. And not because it inspired George Lucas’ characterization of Yoda, or because Kirosawa’s film version inspired elements in the SW films. The Capitan especially gains great admiration for Dersu’s survival skills and spirituality.
